Q
A

Who can subscribe to Plan W?

Unlike the G plan, which is universaly available throughout North America, Plan W has some restrictions.  In order to be able to subscribe to it you must meet the following criteria:

    a. Live in one of the 48 continental US states
    b. The phone line(s) must be listed under your name (or the name of the company you are authorized to order telecommunication services for)
    c. It must be a REAL phone line (not a pay phone or mobile phone)
    d. If it is a company PBX, you must list all the phone lines you have in order to be sure you will be getting the plan rates on all of them
    e. Your location must be in an equal-access area (still about 3% of the United States are in non-equal-access areas i.e. one that you can not chose your long-distance company from)

Does it cost anything to sign up for or to activate the service?  And does it cost anything to cancel it?

No - we will NOT charge you anything neither at sign up for the service nor (we believe this will not happen, but anyway...) upon cancellation of your account.  Your local phone company may still charge you a small one-time fee (usually about $5) for switching carriers - but only if you designate us to be your primary long-distance carrier (you can have just one primary carrier); in this case you are entitled to a reimbursement of $5 per line.

Are there any other charges associated with the service - monthly, per call, per minute or per anything else?

There is $2 monthly fee for all US customers. There are no other fees or hidden charges.

How do I call long-distance?

Plan W works the following way:
1. To place a long-distance call you dial a special access code that we'll give you when your service becomes active. It looks like 1010111
2. Without stopping, you continue to dial the number as you would in a normal fashion - like 1-AREA CODE-NUMBER for domestic calls or calls to Canada or the Caribbean or for international dial 011-COUNTRY CODE+CITY CODE+NUMBER+#
3. Example: To call a number within the US, Canada or the Caribbean: to call (213) 463-5333, you have to dial 1010XXX-1-213-463-5333 or to call 123456 in Frankfurt, Germany you would dial 1010XXX-011-49-69-123456#
4. If you have chosen to switch to us as a primary carrier, no special dialing is necessary - just dial as usual (don't forget the # after any international number - it saves you 5 seconds of waiting).

How do I call when I am not at home?

Our Plan W is designed as a regular phone - based plan. It provides excellent rates, but does not have all the flexibility of the G plan.  If you plan or think you may have to place calls from public, third party or mobile phones, it does not cost anything to add our Plan G (specially the calling card portion of it) to any account that has Plan W activated - you can have both of them, as a matter of fact.  You can subscribe to both plans at the same time - see the Plan G FAQ.

The phone service is not under my name.  Can I still sign-up for your program?

No, because the person under whose name the service is will be responsible for all the charges made from this line, whether his or someone else's, so he is the only one to be able to sign-up this line for the program.  It's OK though, if he signs-up for the program and then lets you use the line to make long-distance calls.

How much does it cost to call another number within the US?

All iterstate calls made within the 48 US states (except these placed in your home state) will cost you 8.9cents/min 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Your in-state rates vary, depending on the state you are in (see table below).  For international rates, see Plan W countries rates.

How can I pay my bill?

Besides the regular method of payment with check or money order, we can sign you up for checking account direct debit or for credit card payment.  Using the last one could enable you to accumulate ``miles", ``points" or some other sort of incentive that many banks offer for using their credit cards.

When and how will I receive my bill?

You will be receiving your bills under a separate cover (i.e. not included in your local phone company's bill - like in the Pacific Bell or in the GTE bill).  Depending on when the service is activated, you will be receiving your bill around 8-12 or around 20-25 each month (we call this billing cycle).  The bill itself is very detailed and provides summaries and statistics for your calls by countries and area codes that are either not available at all or not available for free with most of our competitors.  For customers that have some trouble with their vision, we offer FREE option for printing out the entire bill in larger typeface - just tell us you want large letters on the bill.
